We are a few months into the new year and we are already seeing the 2023 engagement ring trends coming to fruition. If you and your special someone are ready for the next step in your relationship then let's get you acquainted with the top trends for the most important ring they'll be wearing! Everything from the 4 C's to the color of the metal, to the dainty details in the setting is crucial when creating the non-negotiable list of characteristics your partner wants their ring to have. To help narrow down exactly what your partner wants, we have curated a list of the top trends we're seeing. From ultra minimal to finitely detailed, timeless to trendy rings, we're covering it all on this list. Now, by no means are traditional engagement rings dwindling, but this list will help give you some ideas to take something traditional and give it a twist. A large portion of proposers are trying to be more adventurous, and change with the times while still giving their loved one a beautiful ring that speaks to them as a couple.
1) Three Stone Setting
We aren't talking about your great-grandma's 3 stone round-cut ring here (although that does have its time and place of course). This trend is all about multi-shapes. It's almost two trends wrapped into one, while pear & oval shape have been some of the most popular for center stones, we are seeing a lot of tapered baguettes, triangle, trapezoid, really whatever you can think of, for side stones! This trend makes for truly one of a kind rings almost every time because there are endless possibilities of combinations. The three stone setting is beautiful for an engagement ring not only for the looks but for the meaning, the large center stone reminding you of the present moment, and the side stones to be reminiscent of the past and future. The three stones could also represent the three pillars of marriage: love, respect, and fidelity. With this setting you can utilize diamonds and/or colored stones, for example a diamond in the center with color for the side stones. This brings us to our next trend...

the use of the trillion cut stones on each side create a beautifully unique ring
2) Colorful Center Stones
Color gemstones and fancy color diamonds have steadily been climbing in popularity over the last few years. This trend is either as the center stone or accent stone. Using gemstones or fancy color diamonds is a great way to get a seamless unique look. Your ring will still have the bridal feel but with a bold and different approach. How do I choose a color? You may be asking. Here are a few ideas: your birthstone, your partner's birthstone, the stone representing the month of your anniversary (engagement month, wedding month, any other anniversary you celebrate). The jewelry market as a whole has seen an increase in demand for gemstones and color diamonds, so it only makes sense that eventually the trend would move into bridal as consumers become more educated and savvy to the gemstones available.

3) Mixing Metals
We all have seen white gold and silver take the reins the last few years, but with yellow gold making its 21st century comeback we are seeing more and more men and women mix metals in their jewelry. Stacks of yellow, white and rose gold rings are the new "it" way to style your pieces. Not only are we seeing this trend in high fashion & streetwear but now in bridal too. If you already love mixing metals then take the unique step to a mixed metal wedding set. The choice for a yellow gold engagement setting stays strong, the contrast of the yellow to the diamond really makes it pop. To go off thatwe see a lot of yellow gold bands and white gold stone settings (see picture below). The coming together of two metals is also symbolic to the merging of two people.

4) Vintage Inspired
Vintage inspired rings can range from different style settings (e.g. art deco or victorian) to cuts (e.g. old european) but in a broad sense old-meets-new is having its time in the sun. From heirloom engagement rings being passed down and couples purchasing new wedding bands, to vintage settings and a new diamond, the possibilities are endless! People seek out unique designs and pieces that speak to them, this is one of the reasons this trend is huge right now, more than ever we want to express our individuality and show our own personal style whether that's flamboyant or simple. Art deco or Victorian style settings are perfect if you love a more intricate and detailed piece. If her face lights up every time you give her flowers, then a victorian inspired vintage setting might be the way to go.

5) East to West Set Stones
An east west setting is a perfect way to easily create a unique ring. An east to west setting is when the stone is sitting horizontal to your finger as opposed to the traditional vertical setting you normally see. "This style looks particularly fascinating on someone with long and slender fingers" according to an award winning designer from Gabriel and Co.. If your partner classifies as a woman known for her evolved taste and style then this setting will be perfectly on the pulse for her. This is a great style too for someone who wants a solitaire ring, but with a twist (literally).
